Woodville is regarded as the oldest town in Jackson County. Henry Derrick settled the area around 1815, and the town was named for early residents Richard and Annie Wood.[1]
It was established on December 13, 1819, one day before Alabama became a state. The 2020 census counted 746 residents.[1]
