Snead, in Blount County, had 1,032 residents in the 2020 census. It stands where U.S. Route 278 meets Alabama State Route 75, and the Locust Fork of the Black Warrior River runs along its northeast side.[1]
Settlers first arrived in 1839, and growth picked up in the 1850s once a local businessman built a gristmill. The name honors John Snead, the first postmaster in 1882, and the town was incorporated in 1966.[1]
