A city named for a highway
Rainbow City, in southern Etowah County, had 10,191 residents in 2020 and sits at about 518 feet. The city was incorporated in 1950 and takes its name from U.S. Highway 411, known as Rainbow Drive.[1]
State Route 77 (Grand Avenue) crosses US 411, which runs 6 miles to Gadsden and 15 miles to Ashville.[1]
