Powell is a DeKalb County town on Sand Mountain.  It had 901 residents at the 2020 census, down from 955 in 2010, and covers 4.80 square miles of land.[1]

State Route 35 passes through Powell, going northwest 15 miles to Scottsboro and southeast toward Fort Payne, the county seat.[1]
