From stagecoach station to city

Kimberly started in the 1830s as a stagecoach station, first known as Kennelsville and later as Jefferson.  Voters renamed it Kimberly in 1905 to avoid a duplicate name.[1]

The town incorporated in 1952 and became a city in 2011.  It had 3,841 residents in the 2020 census.[1]
