Above the Coosa River

Hokes Bluff stands on a bluff above the Coosa River in Etowah County and had 4,446 residents in 2020.  U.S. Route 278 runs through the city, and Gadsden and Glencoe lie to the west.[1]

The city incorporated in 1946 with 1,200 residents.  The area was once a staging point for Cherokee on the Trail of Tears.[1]
