A railroad town in Lawrence County

Hillsboro is a small town in Lawrence County, with 407 residents in 2020.  It is a few miles west of Decatur and a few miles south of Wheeler Lake.[1]

Railroad construction in the 1860s made it an important refueling stop for trains and a local shipping center.  The town incorporated in 1899.[1]
