Decatur on Wheeler Lake

Decatur is the seat of Morgan County, on Wheeler Lake along the Tennessee River, about 25 miles southwest of Huntsville.  The 2020 census counted 57,938 residents.[1]

The city began in 1820 as Rhodes Ferry Landing and was named for Commodore Stephen Decatur.  It merged with neighboring Albany in 1925.[1]
