Attalla is a city of 5,827 in Etowah County (2020 census).  It was founded in 1870 and incorporated in 1872, and its name comes from otali, a Cherokee word for mountain.[1]

Big Wills Creek runs through the city, with Lookout Mountain rising to the east.  Gadsden, the county seat, is about 5 miles away.[1]
